Curriculum Intent

Curriculum Intent

We aim to provide ‘pupils with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens’¹ and ‘provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life’.²

Pupils will be introduced to the ‘best that has been thought and said’¹ and ‘an appreciation of human creativity and achievement’¹ encouraged through a relevant, meaningful and purposeful curriculum.

Through national and local frameworks and our own wider curriculum provision, we develop a wide ranging knowledge and skills to empower pupils’ to achieve their personal best and be aspirational for their future role
within the global community.

We also make provision for a daily act of collective worship and teach religious education and relationship, social, health and sex education, drawing on good practice. We ensure children have a good understanding of British Values and make explicit links to these within teaching.

We aim to ensure that teaching, learning, assessment and the curriculum experience combine to provide a context where pupils thrive.
